9th Business Development Mission to Australia in October 2016

The Country branding and business promotion program of the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) intends to promote international exposure for the domestic ICT Industry in designated countries. It focuses on attracting ICT investments to the country and exploring overseas business promotion opportunities for local companies.  Sri Lankan IT/BPM companies have been continuously engaging with the Australian market since 2011 which has been led and facilitated by ICTA.

Business Mission to Australia in October 2016

The Business Development Mission took place from 24th – 28th October 2016, included the facilitation of a country pavilion at the Gartner Symposium and Exhibition and business networking meetings in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. The delegation consisted of the C-level representatives of 12 IT/BPM Sri Lankan companies and the ICTA representatives.

Sri Lankan Business Networking Meeting in Brisbane

Sri Lankan Business Networking Meeting in Melbourne

  • Date: 28th of October 2016                        
  • Venue: Melbourne Marriott Hotel, Cnr Lonsdale & Exhibition Streets, Melbourne VIC 3000 
  • Time: 5.30 pm onwards

Three bespoke networking events organised by ICTA in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne were focused on facilitating dialog which may result in business opportunities/links. The primary objective for forging such links was be to create awareness about IT/BPM industry and opportunities in Sri Lanka, to meet with members of the Australian business community and to identify synergies and form partnerships, to encourage the Sri Lankan Expats to act as brand ambassadors for the industry and to promote business – introductions, market access, outsourcing, joint ventures, captives, venture capital, and technical collaboration. The ICT Agency delivered a presentation on what makes Sri Lanka a popular destination for IT-BPM Services; many ways Sri Lanka is transforming towards a creative knowledge-based society through digitally empowered citizens which is resulting in a conducive environment for Investment and Business

The meetings were attended by Sri Lankan expatriates in Australia and Australian business contacts who are at CXO and senior management level across major industries, academics at recognized institutions, senior officials in state/public sector and working at multilateral/donor agencies etc.
